Governance, Documentation and Administration

  1. Governance

The Board of Trustees of Linwood Intermediate School needs to develop its own working guidelines and principles, e.g.:

  • Code of ethics
  • Chair’s role
  • Staff trustee role
  • Meeting procedures
  • Committees – membership and procedures:
    • Discipline
    • Resources

 

  • Principal performance management & appraisal
  • Privacy
    • Appointment of privacy officer
  • Protected disclosures
  • Confidentiality
  • Public relations/media
  • Complaints

 

 

  1. Documentation and Self-review (NAG 2)

The Board, the Principal and staff are required to:

  • Develop a charter and strategic plan which document how they are going to implement the National Education Guidelines through the School’s policies, plans and programmes
  • Maintain an ongoing process of self-review of those policies, plans and programmes
  • Report to students and their parents on the achievement of individual students; and to the School’s community on the achievement of students as a whole and of appropriate groups

 

Note:

For the Board’s decision on the requirement to report against National Standards (NAG 2A) please refer to its Curriculum and Student Achievement Policy.

 

 


  1. Administration (NAG 6)

The Board is also expected to comply with all general legislation covering such areas as attendance, length of school day and school year:

  • Administration handbook for staff
  • Attendance
  • Enrolments and withdrawals
  • Length of school day
  • Length of school year – terms and holidays
  • Out of hours use of school grounds/property
  • Stand-downs, suspensions and exclusions
  • Truancy
  • Withdrawal of children from class
