The Board of Trustees of Linwood Intermediate School needs to develop its own working guidelines and principles, e.g.:
- Code of ethics
- Chair’s role
- Staff trustee role
- Meeting procedures
- Committees – membership and procedures:
- Principal performance management & appraisal
- Privacy
- Appointment of privacy officer
- Protected disclosures
- Confidentiality
- Public relations/media
- Complaints
- Documentation and Self-review (NAG 2)
The Board, the Principal and staff are required to:
- Develop a charter and strategic plan which document how they are going to implement the National Education Guidelines through the School’s policies, plans and programmes
- Maintain an ongoing process of self-review of those policies, plans and programmes
- Report to students and their parents on the achievement of individual students; and to the School’s community on the achievement of students as a whole and of appropriate groups

- Administration (NAG 6)
The Board is also expected to comply with all general legislation covering such areas as attendance, length of school day and school year:

- Enrolments and withdrawals
- Length of school day
- Length of school year – terms and holidays
- Out of hours use of school grounds/property
- Stand-downs, suspensions and exclusions
- Truancy
- Withdrawal of children from class
